We are here to be lit from the inside out. To be courageous enough to pause, be still, and then move. {Chill with all of the running all over the place, all of the competing, all of the disconnection.} We are here to move from a deep, resonant, and woke place. We are here to be in purposeful, empowering inquiry- together. We are here to challenge, support, and encourage each other. Anchored in stillness and mindful movement, our training invites you to question what yoga “has to” look and feel like. More than pushing boundaries and finding your edge, our training bravely guides you to identify, trust, live, and teach from your center. This is an opportunity to learn, explore, and grow in a sacred and chill space.

What do you mean Be Still, And Then Move?

From a more centered and grounded place every single movement -whether it’s in our bodies, hearts, family, the front lines of a protest, service, work, or leadership- every movement born from stillness is exponentially more powerful. Our lead teachers Octavia and Meryl {O+M} ‘s most powerful “moves” in the yoga room and beyond were born from stillness This is why we teach- Be still, then move.

The stillness based practices of yin and restorative yoga are at the heart of our training. Meditation is the breath of our training. Movement and mindful flow-based practices are the vessels and lungs. They are all essential and equally emphasized. Beyond the traditional postures that we can take on the mat, our training is a course in the cultivation of Self and an invitation to be in deep inquiry about how we can build community, real connections, and effect change; how we can create movement(s) grounded in yoga beyond our mats.

How will I be prepared to teach real people?

Our methodology not only includes personal practice, lecture, journaling and reflection, but observation of real time classes, co-teaching alongside lead trainers in their weekly classes, practice in dyads, triads, and study groups. We limit the enrollment in our training so that we maintain a low student/lead trainer ratio in order to ensure that each student receives personalized attention, feedback, and support toward meeting his/her objectives for training.

Trainees must take a minimum of 2 yoga classes per week with Octavia or Meryl during the training and journal about them.

Observe at least two classes

Co-teach at least two classes

Develop a home yoga and meditation practice.

Please note: All students in Yoga Teacher Training will be enrolled in our monthly unlimited membership program at the reduced rate of $49 a month for the duration of training and must practice at least two times a week at Sacred Chill {West}. Those living 30 miles out of town can attend the required classes at other locations with written approval.

We do not currently have any information sessions scheduled. We encourage you to come and take a class with Directors Octavia Raheem and Meryl Arnett soon if you haven’t already!

This training and experience is still for you! It’s about building deeper connections from the inside out and learning how to navigate the beauty and challenges of life with more skills, grit, and grace. No matter if you want to teach or not, our training promises to be a truly empowering and life- changing opportunity.

Each weekend and module builds upon the last and our training works best with 100% presence and attendance.  With the exception of personal or family medical emergency or loss, trainees must attend all scheduled sessions of the training.

To be eligible for our training, students must have at least six (6) months of regular yoga practice. We are not only a teacher training program, but we are aware that we are building a cohort that will nourish, support, and inspire one another. To that end, admissions is a three-step process to assure Sacred Chill West’s training is appropriate for you. You do not need to be an advanced yoga student to take the training. We are more interested in your intention, commitment, and vision. Step One is to respond in writing to the application questions. Step two is attending a class with Octavia or Meryl. Step Three is a brief personal interview, usually scheduled post class attendance.

We are aware that we are building a learning community and limit our enrollment to 16-20 students.

Our small group setting allows ample time for individual student questions and needs to be met, as well as insures that each trainee receives ample time to practice teach and receive feedback on a consistent basis.

The price for the total training is $3400 and includes all books and materials required. Additionally, all students in Yoga Teacher Training will be enrolled in our monthly unlimited membership program at the reduced rate of $49 per month for the duration of training.

The standard training is 200 Hour. We strive to reach beyond what is accepted as “standard”. Our training is 210 hours so that we can go just a little deeper and to allow us to have significantly more time than the standard training to cover the sacred business of yoga.

A nonrefundable $500 holds your space. The balance may be spread over monthly payments. All due before September 1, 2020.

You will need your own mat. Besides that, training manual and all books are included in the price.  You will need to provide your own lunch on Saturdays & Sundays.

This training is recognized by Yoga Alliance. Once you pass the final exam and have completed the mandatory assignments you will receive a certificate and can then register with Yoga Alliance as a certified Yoga Teacher.
