November 5, 12, 26: HOLD ON TO YOURSELF (3-week series)

As we head into the holiday season, it is important that we remain vigilant in our ability to hold on to ourselves. In fact, often times, this season can be tumultuous where our demands and needs are outweighed by our internal resources. And in some cases, we need to learn to tie ourselves to the mast.

In this 3-week series we will be excavating our innate tools to help us make sure that we are being resourced in the most beneficial ways. We will examine the science around empathic distress and learn how to keep from being overwhelmed by another’s suffering. And we will go beyond Self, in learning how we can connect to a source of compassion that surpasses our normal human limits, thus always feeling confident, strong and capable no matter what life stressors we are facing.

About Jennifer:
Jennifer Finch, M.A., LPC, NBCC, Certified Meditation Instructor

I am a psycho-therapist using the modalities of meditation, somatic experiencing and compassion to help one heal from the inside out. I am a mother of two boys (12 and
13), a devoted student of self-curiosity, occasional writer, teacher of meditation based workshops, and train the trainer programs, photographer, music snob and owner of two pugs (not specifically in that order).

The meditation spark initiated when I was in graduate school in the late 1900s and I began teaching it without a net of research or ounce of confidence in what I was doing. Now, almost three decades later, both historical and cutting- edge research support that leap of faith I took.

Living a more mindful life asks for a great deal of trust. Mindfulness asks us to trust that the heart is wiser than the head, to trust that moving slower will really gain us more, and to trust that letting go is how we truly access joy in our lives. Not easy stuff in the midst of our day-to-day realities…

In our September Meditation Series, we are going to explore trust in its most authentic form. Not magical, mystical blindness but authentic exploration and deep knowing {or unknowing as the case may be…}

Join Meryl Arnett for three Mondays in September {Sept 10, 17, 24} at 6:15 p.m. as we delve into the Intention and Attention required for Trust. All levels welcome.

Register for the full 3-week series: $45/person (only $15/class!)

led by Meryl Arnett
Sunday, Sept. 23
8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
“We make a space inside ourselves,
so that being can speak.”
~Martin Heidegger

The exploration of silence is one of our most sacred practices; it is an exploration of the soul. This half-day retreat is an opportunity for inner listening, for reflecting, and for intention setting. We sit on the first day of autumn to welcome in the harvest of all our work thus far. This is a rich time to broaden your awakening and deepen your understanding of yourself and your practice.

This retreat in broken into alternating sessions of seated meditation and walking meditation. Our program will begin with an introduction and explanation of both practices as well as a review of our different options for seated practice.

Tea and light snacks will be available throughout the half-day experience. Please bring a journal and pen with you.

Give yourself the gift of not only this experience but time and space afterwards. Don’t schedule a noisy, busy afternoon. Stay at home. Get your grocery shopping/meal planning/to-do-list-making done earlier so that this day seamlessly shifts from the silent retreat to the comforts of home, whether alone or with the company of your family.

Some meditation experience is recommended.

Space is limited to 12 participants. Register Today.

$65 per person if registered by August 23, $75 thereafter.

Awaken Your Practice

This month, as a community, we are focusing on Awakening.

On emerging from the trance of our daily habits and thoughts to step into our fullness as woke, compassionate and joyful beings.

On waking up our intentions and resolutions so that they don’t dwindle away behind a mountain of unanswered emails, dirty dishes and Facebook posts.

Our April 3-week Meditation series, Awaken Your Practice, will offer 3 jewels of a woke practice. Through foundational techniques, Simplicity – Discipline – Renunciation, we are able to deepen and reconnect to the intention behind meditation. We are also able to see how it assists us in awakening to our Truths.

If your meditation practice has slowly drifted away as the year has progressed, if you find yourself bored with your practice, or maybe just feeling a little disconnected in general… Join Meryl for this special meditation series. Together, we will reconnect to the simplicity & joy of meditation.

Never meditated? Tried and thought you failed? Yep, this series is for you too!

All levels welcome.
